First legs on 9 and 10 April, second legs on 16 and 17 April

The UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw has laid out mouth-watering clashes on the road to the final at Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano on 1 June.

Ajax, who knocked out reigning European kings Real Madrid, will face Juventus in a repeat of the 1973 and 1996 finals, while 2009 and 2011 finalists Manchester United and Barcelona will go head to head.

Elsewhere, there will be an all-English meeting in the form of Tottenham Hotspur-Manchester City, while 2018 finalists Liverpool will meet Porto.

The first legs will be played on 9 and 10 April, with the return games coming a week later on 16 and 17 April 2019.

  • Ajax have failed to record a victory in any of their last nine encounters with Juventus in European competitions (drawn four, lost five). Their last win against them came in 1974 – a 2-1 win in the UEFA Cup
  • Cristiano Ronaldo has scored seven times against Ajax in the Champions League. He only has more against Bayern Munich (nine) and Juventus (10)
  • Liverpool are undefeated against Porto in their previous six games in European competition (won three, drawn three)
  • Manchester City have suffered defeat in their four games against English opponents in European competition – twice against Chelsea in 1971 and twice against Liverpool in 2018
  • Manchester United have emerged victorious in just one of their eight European Cup/Champions League meetings with Barcelona (drawn four, lost three), losing in the 2009 and 2011 finals against Blaugrana
  • 22 Champions League goals is what Lionel Messi has scored against English clubs – more than any other player in the competition
