The Egyptian Embassy based in Lagos, has finally issued Visas the Nigerian contingents to participate in the ongoing African Championships in Egypt.

President of the Badminton Federation of Nigeria Francis Orbih confirmed to Sports Intelligence that 17 out of the 21 people that applied for the visas were granted.

All the participating athletes were given visas but the Vice President of the BFN and two umpires officially invited by the Badminton Confederation of Africa for officiating and certification were denied.

The decision means Nigeria’s chance of having two officials at the championship has been denied by the Egyptian embassy.

Nigeria has missed the team event which started on Monday, but will take part in the individual championship and the Olympic qualifier from Friday.

Currently ranked number one in Africa,the Nigerian players plan to pick all the necessary points to secure the available spots at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
