Poland 2019:Nigeria Draw USA, Ukraine,Qatar.

U20 FIFA WC : Nigeria’s Flying Eagles have been drawn against Ukraine, the USA and Qatar in the group phase of the 2019 FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Poland. The four countries will play in Group D in Poland from 23rd May – 15th June.

In the draw host nation Poland are In Group A alongside Colombia, Tahiti and Senegal, while African champions Mali will take on France, Panama and Saudi Arabia in Group E.

Group B has Mexico, Italy, Japan and Ecuador. Honduras, New Zealand, Uruguay and Norway will make up Group C. Group F is composed of another African flag-bearer South Africa, Argentina, Portugal and Korea Republic.

Nigeria finished as runners –up at the FIFA U20 World Cup in 1989 when the team lost to Portugal in the final in Saudi Arabia, and in 2005 against Argentina in The Netherlands. Nigeria also won bronze medals in the old Soviet Union in 1985.

Nigeria’s Group D opponents, Qatar, shocked the world in 1981, when the country reached the final in Australia,but to the then West Germany.

Ogun Chapter Calls For SWAN Unity

From the Gateway state the cradle of Journalism, we use this medium to convey our warm greetings to your office, as the President of our noble Association.

Following interventions by and consultations with various stakeholders in our chapter and the south west, particularly Ogun State Council of the NUJ led by the Chairman Comrade Wole Shokunbi, as well as our chapter executives and members, we are also using this medium to express our utmost concern about happenings in our great association and as a result urge you to use your good office to ensure a peaceful resolution devoid of disunity, of these areas of concern.
In a statement jointly signed by Ogun Swan chapter Chairman
Hakeem Akintunde and his Secretary Sanusi Lateef and copied the President, Nigeria Union of Journalists, The SWAN National Executive Council
and Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council..
They believed in one united SWAN and using the good office to ensure the kind of resolution stated above we also believe will bring about greater harmony, unity of purpose and a more progressive SWAN come 2019.
In the outgoing year our areas of concern include:
*The exit of our  Deputy National Secretary who   coincidentally is  from our zone.
*The grieviances of the SouthWest Secretaries before the Full Council meeting in PortHarcourt.
These issues as  you are aware, elicited strong reactions from some state chapters, including our state.
Following interventions by and consultations with stakeholders mentioned above, we believe that all issues can be resolved and thus urge you and the National Executive Council to use your good offices to dispassionately look into these various issues of concern not only from Ogun but also from other chapters and kindly take steps to ensure timely peaceful resolution, so that we go into 2019 with one united SWAN of our dream in Ogun State.
We in Ogun are committed to one united body of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria where all voices will be heard and where equity, justice and fairness will thrive.
We restate Ogun SWAN ‘s commitment to upholding the sanctity of a one united body of our esteemed  Association.
